Friends,
Thank you all for your support of the Mountain Bike Pow Wow. Hearing the
stories of your journeys across the Santa Ana’s is an inspiration to us all.
The Great Spirit spoke to you in the wind much the way he does in life,
sometimes making your journey easy, other times hard. But rest assured he will
never allow you to experience something that you cannot, through spirit and
determination, rise above.
It is our hope that you were reconnected to the land in which we feel
privileged to ride upon. It is our goal to open your eyes to that which cannot
be seen but only felt; the love of the Great Spirit of which the beauty of the
forest testifies. If the Warrior’s Society accomplished this then the Forest
will be in good hands.
The Warrior’s Society would like to thank the following individuals and
organizations that helped to make the Pow Wow possible: The U.S. Forest Service
and District Ranger Clem “Friend of the Native Peoples” La Grossa, Rangers
Sue “Dodges Many Arrows” Zahn and Lee “OK’s Event” DiGregorio, Chris
“Protects the Warrior’s” Pena and the Orange County Search and Rescue
Team, who gave us the peace of mind knowing the riders would be taken care of if
they got into trouble, Warrior’s Society member Ron “Leads Many
Warrior’s” Cooke for being our Communications Director and teaching us how
to do an event right, Mac Lopez for his guidance and sharing his music with us
(thank you so much for the gift of the flute, we are blessed our Shoshone
Brother), Becky Vargas for being camp boss and making sure you’re taken care
of once you got back, Dave “Hears a Lion” Goldstein for calming the Event
Director down, fellow Club members Jesse “Fights the Oak” Vargas who worked
from Thursday through Saturday non-stop, Bob “Wise Hawk” Haislett, Nathan
