Friends,
Thank you all for your support of the 2003 Mountain Bike Pow Wow.
As always, it is our hope that you were reconnected to the land in which we feel privileged to ride upon. It is our goal to open
your eyes to that which cannot be seen but only felt; the love of the Great Spirit of which the beauty of the forest testifies.
It is also important that you realize how precious your freedom is and volunteer your time maintaining the forest to protect that
freedom. If the Warrior's Society accomplished this, and inspired you to get involved, then the Forest will be in good hands.
Our club photographer John Early has posted stills and VR movies of the event on his web site at:
www.earlyphoto.com/powwow/
John will also be posting DV stuff soon so check back if it's not posted.
The Warrior's Society would like to thank the following individuals and organizations that helped to make the Pow Wow possible:
The U.S. Forest Service and Rangers Judy Behrens and Virgil Mink.
The Orange County Search and Rescue Team, who gave us the peace of mind knowing our participant's would be taken care of if they got into trouble.
Ron "Leads Many Warrior's" Cooke, Joe "Flying Bear" Lopez and Heiko for being our Communications Directors.
All our communications staff.
Event Co-Director Jesse "Fights The Oak" Vargas for doing most of the pre-and after event work due to my illness.
The Orange County Dualies Off-road Motorcycle Club for providing motorcycle support.
Geriann Vargas and Becky Vargas for being camp bosses and making sure you're taken care of once you got back.
Club members Jesse Vargas, Ken Sage, Bob Haislett and Terry Hamlyn for loading up the gear on Friday, doing the shopping, picked up the water and hauled it all to O'Neill Park.
Our many support volunteers who manned the aid stations, cooked, registered participants, drove trucks, or helped back at camp.
Ken Rands, Calvin Mulder, Robin Lemonds, Jesse Vargas and Jeroen Bosboom (who also designed the event t-shirt), for their help in working on the awards.
Support Services Director Jim Simescu, our lead cook, and his many volunteers.
Our Major sponsors: Arrowhead Water, Shimano, Oakley, and Manitou.
Our sponsoring bike shops: Jax's Bicycle Centers, Rainbow Bicycle Company, Edge Cyclesports, The Bike Company, Switchback Cyclery, The Path Bike Shop, Bike Tech, Rock and Road and South County Cyclery.
Our contributing sponsors: Cliff Bar/Shot, Voler, Aussie Racing Apparel, 661 Cycling, Crank Brothers, Serfas, Nema, The Indian Store, Active.com, The Orange County Dualies, Progressive Suspension, and BIKE magazine. Please support these companies that contribute to keeping the trails open.
The SHARE Mountain Bike Club and fellow Warrior's Society member Robin Lemonds.
The staff at O'Neill Park where the event was held.
