1. THE WARRIOR’S SOCIETY TOAD FESTIVAL IS NEXT SATURDAY, JUNE 4TH)
ONLINE REGISTRATION IS CLOSED BUT THERE IS SAME-DAY REGISTRATION AT O’NEILL PARK – SAME-DAY REGISTRANTS WILL NOT RECEIVE AN EVENT T-SHIRT BUT RECEIVE A DISCOUNT OF $10.00 OFF THE ENTRANCE FEE – $40.00 FOR ADULTS AND $15.00 FOR CHILDREN.
The 2011 Toad Festival will be a fundraiser for The Acjachemen Nation, also know as the Juaneno Band of Mission Indians (JBMI). The Acjachemen Nation is Orange County’s original residents and were the stewards of the Santa Ana’s for hundreds of years.
The tribe will be having some demonstrations and exhibits at our staging area.
Registration opens January 1st, 2010 @ 7:00 p.m.
Event Date: June 4th, 2011
Fun Ride Long Course start time: 8:00 a.m
Fun Ride Short Course start time: 9:00 a.m
Short Ride: 10 miles, 500 feet of climbing
This ride is a great beginners and kids ride through the beautiful tree-covered trails of O’Neil Park.
Long Ride: 27.5 +- miles, 5,000 +- of elevation gain
1. Start at O’Neill Park Picnic area and ride to Holy Jim Trail Head – a small amount of pavement with 5 miles of fire road.
2. Holy Jim Trail Head to Main Divide – 6 miles of steep single track climbing with multiple stream crossings.
3. Holy Jim Trail to Trabuco Canyon Trail – 6 miles of rutted fire road with steep climbs and descents.
4. Trabuco Canyon Trail to Holy Jim Parking area – 5 miles of down hill, technical single track with stream crossings with 1/2 of a mile of fire road
5. Holy Jim Parking area to Picnic area – 5 miles of fire road and a small amount of pavement.
The Long Ride is not for beginning or novice riders. Participants will be responsible to carry all food and water needed to complete the ride. There will be no sag support (except in case of total breakdown or emergency). Support personnel will be stationed at 5 rest stops along the course.
Root beer floats will be served at the West Horse Thief Check Game Check Point.
Riders in the fun rides will compete in games of chance and skill (darts, horseshoes, helmet toss and Blackjack cards). Those with the highest combined score will win prizes. You must make the checkpoints in a reasonable time or you will not be allowed to continue.
If you are not allowed to continue on the course you will still play the games back at the staging area and compete for the prizes.

No limit for the short fun ride

Kids 13 and under ($15 – NO EVENT T-SHIRT DISCOUNT FOR SAME DAY REGISTRANTS – REGULAR PRICE $15)
If you plan on participating in the 2011 Toad Festival you must register by Thursday, May 26th to receive an event t-shirt.
The event fee includes awards for top game scorers, t-shirt and lunch. To register online or to download an app to mail in go to the event web page at:

2. NATIONAL TRAIL DAYS PROJECT THIS SATURDAY, JUNE 4TH – VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
The US Forest Service, Partnership 4Trails, and the Raney Intermediate School IB Program invite you to join us on National Trails Day, Saturday, June 4, 2011 from 8:00 a.m. until 12 noon at Tin Mine Canyon on the Trabuco Ranger District of the Cleveland National Forest.
National Trails Day is the nation’s largest hands-on volunteer effort to improve America’s public lands.
Register at VolunteerMatch.com on the Trails4All link. Drop-in’s are welcome!
Volunteers are needed to help clean up the Tin Mine Canyon area, Corona’s gateway to the Cleveland National Forest. The cleanup will help the community experience the beauty of the canyon and will help future generations. We’ll remove invasive mustard plants, clean graffiti, paint the kiosk, perform trail work, explore the canyon, have a nature hike, and much more.
We will also be having fun!
Volunteers are encouraged to wear long pants, long sleeved shirt, sunscreen and hat. Bring water and snacks.
