1. THE CYTOMAX SPRING MTB CLASSIC WRITE-UP AND FINISHES

We have the write-up and finishing times for the Cytomax Spring MTB Classic posted on our web site.

Thanks to everyone that participated and supported the event, especially our major sponsor Cytomax.

2. JAX TOAD FESTIVAL COURSE CONDITIONS UPDATE

Club leader Larry “Lare-Dog” Branham Club Trails Manager Ken Rands led a ride on the Toad Festival course today, (Sunday April 30th) and they report that the trails are in great shape. The only problem area was above the switchbacks on Holy Jim where there was some buckthorn and poison oak encroaching on the trail – but Lare-Dog and his fellow riders cut it back off the trail. The trail is clear but it’s a little brushy on this section, but as I mentioned, the buckthorn and poison oak won’t be a problem.

We will have water stations at the top of Holy Jim at the Main Divide, the top of West Horse Thief and the Main Divide, and the top of Trabuco and the Main Divide. Although we will have these water stations, we still recommend you start the event will a full camelback and hydrate from the very start to avoid cramping. The temperatures can be 10 to 15 degrees higher on the Main Divide Road.

The Warrior’s Society Dog Soldiers will have a root-beer float station at the top of West Horse Thief and the Main Divide; the same spot the Dog Soldiers had the hamburger station at the Vision Quest.

If you do not make the cutoff time at the top of Holy Jim and the Main Divide you will still be able to play the games when you return to the staging area (and still win prizes).

Below is the event information and YOU MUST REGISTER BEFORE TUESDAY, MAY 9TH TO RECEIVE AN EVENT T-SHIRT.

27.5 +- miles, 5,000 +- of elevation gain

AS PREVIOUSLY MENTIONED – YOU MUST REGISTER BEFORE TUESDAY, MAY 9TH TO RECEIVE AN EVENT T-SHIRT.

We will have same day registration but remember; you will not receive an event t-shirt unless you register by Tuesday, May 9th.

This event IS NOT for beginning or novice riders. Participants will be responsible to carry all food and a full camelback of water at the start. There will be water stations at three locations on the Main Divide.

Support personnel will be stationed at 5 rest stops along the course. Riders will compete in games of chance and skill (darts, horseshoes, helmet toss and Blackjack cards).

You must make the checkpoints in a reasonable time or you will not be allowed to continue. We have many prizes to award so a high percentage of participants will win something (tires, a shock, bars, stems, gift certificates and other accessories).

Breakfast and lunch will be provided at the event. Alcohol is not allowed at the park and we ask that you do not litter. Please help us by doing your part to keep the trails and park clean during and after the event.

Entry fee: $35.00. The entry fee includes an event t-shirt, prizes and lunch. YOU MUST REGISTER BEFORE TUESDAY, MAY 9TH TO RECEIVE AN EVENT T-SHIRT.

Limited to 250 Participants. Registration closes May 11, 2006 11:59 PM Pacific Time or when the event sells out:

In this issue:

1. The Cytomax Spring MTB Classic starts off the Warrior’s Society and Flying B Orange County Championship Series with exciting racing.

2. Our next event – The JAX Toad Festival on Saturday, May 13th 2006

3. The remaining three events in the Warrior’s Society and Flying B Orange County MTB Championship Series.

1. THE CYTOMAX SPRING MTB CLASSIC STARTS OFF THE WARRIOR’S SOCIETY AND FLYING B ORANGE COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES WITH EXCITING RACING

We had a great turnout at the first event of our Warrior’s Society and Flying B Orange County Championship Series. From the feedback we received it seems having a competitive venue so close to Orange County, that did not cost an arm and a leg in gas or events fees, was very much appreciated.

We hope to have the results posted soon, as well as the series point’s results. We will have the write-up in next week’s news. The next event in the series will be the Rock N Road / Sho-Air / Specialzed 24-Hours of Orange County. Information on that event is carried below in this week’s news.

Our course designers Jason Martin, Eron Boyer and Tim Panttaja will be designing and constructing additional single track for this event to add to the 2 miles of single track we have already constructed. Our Designers will also be laying out a Super D Course that we will begin construction on this fall.

We also have a DH extreme stunt course that club members Darin Maxwell and Steve Timm will be finishing this year. This course will be for the use of Warrior’s Society members and for our sponsors to test and do photo shoots exclusively.

Thanks to all those who participated in this inaugural event of the Warrior’s Society and Flying B Championship Series.

2. OUR NEXT EVENT – THE JAX TOAD FESTIVAL ON SATURDAY, MAY 13TH 2006

We thank JAX’s Bicycle Centers for their support of this event and donation of prizes which allowed us to lower the entry fee to $35.00.

This event is not for beginning or novice riders. Participants will be responsible to carry all food and water needed to complete the ride. There will be no sag support (except in case of total breakdown or emergency).

3. THE REMAINING THREE EVENTS IN THE WARRIOR’S SOCIETY AND FLYING B ORANGE COUNTY MTB CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES

These are the remaining events in the Flying B Series which will have points counted to name a 2006 OC Male and Female Mountain Bike Champion with cash prizes of $500 for first place, $250 for second place and $150 for third place. If all our series of events are highly attended the prize money will double.

Those competing in the Orange County Male and Female Championship must ride solo in the Rock and Road/Sho-Air/Specialzed 24-Hours of Orange County and Switchback 6-Hours of Orange County.

All of our event fees include an event t-shirt, awards, raffle prizes, lunch and beer/soda’s after the event(s). For each event you participate in you will receive a raffle ticket for $5,000 dollars in product from FELT Bicycles. We will have a raffle at the last race of our season, the Sho-Air / Rock and Road Fall Mountain Bike Classic. The more events you enter, the greater your chances to win a bike.

Shimano, Felt, Manitou and Clif Bar are our overall major sponsors of our 2006 Event Series. We thank them, our “named” event Major Sponsors and Minor Sponsors for helping us to develop the Flying B into a 1st class facility for XC Mountian Bike Events.
