1. The 2016 Lone Wolf’s Challenge – 40 miles and 9,000 feet of elevation gain
The course: starting from the Parker Ranch, up Trabuco Creek Road to the Trabuco Trail. Up the Trabuco Trail to the Main Divide then down Los Pinos to the San Juan Trail. Up the San Juan Trail to Long Canyon Road and the North Main Divide to the Trabuco Trail. Down the Trabuco Trail and back to the Parker Ranch. Start time 7:00 a.m. Aid stations will be located at Trabuco and the Main Divide, the base of the San Juan Trail and at the Blue Jay Campground.
The 2016 Lone Wolf’s Challenge is set for Saturday, April 9th. Participants in the 2016 Vision Quest will get first priority in signing up for this event, with those in the Counting Coup wishing to upgrade to the 2016 Vision Quest filling any open spots. Returning past Vision Quest Champion Tinker Juarez is entered in the series.
A code and link has been sent to 2016 Vision Quest Riders to allow registration.
Participation limit 150 – Registration will be restricted to Vision Quest participants for only two weeks then it will be open to Counting Coup participants then the public.
The entrance fee is $90 and includes food, event t-shirt and awards for top finishers. IF YOU ARE NOT ENTERED IN THE 2016 VISION QUEST AND AQUIRE THIS CODE YOUR MONEY WILL NOT BE REFUNDED. THIS IS STATED ON THE ONLINE RELEASE WHEN YOU REGISTER
This event will be part of the 2016 King and Queen of the Santa Ana’s Mountain Bike Championship Series
The Championship Series will consist of two classes, Expert and Intermediate.
The Expert Class of the series will consist of the 2016 Lone Wolf’s Challenge and the 2016 Vision Quest. We will have both female and male champions. We may split to have two age groups 18 to 45 and 45 and up.
The Intermediate Class series will consist of the 2016 Trabuco Challenge and the 2016 Counting Coup. We will have both female and male champions. We may split to have two age groups 18 to 45 and 45 and up.
Winners will be determined by their combined finishing times and crowned/awarded at the 2016 Pow Wow on Saturday, October 22nd (Vision Quest and Counting Coup event date).
2. The 2016 Trabuco Challenge – 24 miles and 4,000 feet of elevation gain
The course: Starting from the Parker Ranch, up Trabuco Creek Road to the Holy Jim Trail. Up the Holy Jim Trail to the South Main Divide. Across the South Main Divide to the Trabuco Trail. Down the Trabuco Trail to the finish at the Parker Ranch. Start time 8:00 a.m. Aid stations will be at the top of Holy Jim and the Main Divide and at the Main Divide and the Trabuco Trail.
The 2016 Trabuco Challenge is set for Saturday, May 14th.
2016 Counting Coup Riders have been sent a link and code to register.
